Concert tickets have already become the biggest money maker for a lot of bands in the industry. The money made off a Coldplay ticket is definitely no exception. In an age where a musical group can sell millions of copies of an album in its first months of release and take in large fortunes doing so, it’s interesting that the real money is coming from other places.

It was in the seventies when the music industry first realized how much a live show could be worth. Massive shows by some big named bands back then transformed the way things were looked at and pop music concerts became a money making machine instead of a mere promotional tour. The hot ticket Coldplay is offering this year is not going to be any different. After all, when a group can release a new album to nearly a million sales in its first week alone it doesn’t need a tour to rake in more sales. No, selling this years Coldplay tickets is a hundred percent a business of its own.

With ticket prices going up, however, promoting ticket sales is becoming a harder sell. When fans may only be able to afford to see one of their favorite performers live instead of being able to buy tickets to all of them, promoters are stuck with the task of making their show stand out. No matter how famous a group like Coldplay has become and no matter how much word of mouth there is about their tour, to actually sell out each and every Coldplay ticket is a difficult task.

That’s why this time around, those who are promoting the Coldplay tickets have hit on a few new ideas to get people interested. The first big push is taking major advantage of the internet and band websites. This is an obvious move nowadays for any popular music tour because, like any other business, the internet has totally changed the way things are done. That’s why you won’t see a lot of people lining up at booths for their Coldplay ticket. Everything these days is done through virtual ticket booths. This sounds pretty standard but what it actually means to a sale is staggering. While it used to be virtually impossible to sell out even one show in less then an hour, these days entire tours sell out in practically seconds. So getting and maintaining the interest of credit card wielding fans is a huge deal. Getting them online is even huger.

So this time around Coldplay has kept a large number of their tour dates and locations a secret. They are refusing to announce them to help with a campaign to increase interest in their website. For every thirty thousand hits their site gets, they’ll announce another concert. This is marketing magic because it keeps fans on the edge of their seats. It keeps fans going back to read about the group. It keeps fans going back to let the band advertise to them.

As well as that little scheme, British quartet is also giving away a few prize packages to their loyal fans. This practice is pretty much standard these days. Fans can now win themselves free coldplay tickets, a phone call from the group and a visit backstage after a show.

Reggie McNeal was born on September 20, 1983 in Lufkin, Texas. Reggie McNeal had his schooling from Lufkin’s and later attended college in the state of Texas as well. This wonderful player has many achievements to his credit, as he looks forward for a pick up in the NFL 2006.

His performance in 2003 leading the Aggies to victory by defeating Oklahoma, then rated as the number one team, with a four touch down performance was his wonderful achievement.

It would be interesting to have a retrospective of this marvelous player’s achievement during the past couple of years. He is considered as one of the top quarterbacks and played a lead role in
the victory of his team Texas A&M in the state 5A championship. He is one of the coolest players of the country. He exhibited exemplary performance in both the quarterfinals and semis in the same year for the same team.

His performance in the year 2002 and also in school, speaks about his all-round skills. In school, apart from being an athlete, he also won laurels in sports like baseball, basketball and track and field events. Few other players can claim such versatile talents that make this young and energetic NFL aspirant unique.

Speaking of his incredible capacity to bring the team from failure to victory in the 5A quarterfinal, this youngster ran for 101 yards for a touch down, and passed for another 204 yards. The semi final game of the same year, his performance has been acclaimed as folklore in the Texas high school. Carrying four defenders from six yards up to the end zone he led the team to success by his superb and magical performance. He repeated his performance again in the 5A state championship. Will Barry Bonds reach the 756 home run mark and eclipse Hammerin’ Hank Aaron? The controversial Barry Bonds certainly is a baseball legend in his own mind, but does he have enough star quality and MLB cache to keep him in the baseball limelight? Is he a has been or someone who should be a has been? The question many people are asking is simply this one— is Barry Bonds washed up? Many people believe it is time for Bonds to hang up his cleats. He has been injury plagued the last couple of seasons and has also been involved in Major League Baseball’s steroid controversy. In the past the slugger has admitted that he’s used steroids and contends that the drugs were administered unwittingly. Despite his use of performance enhancing drugs, there is no question that he has been one of the game’s most productive players.

Barry Bonds is chasing perhaps the greatest mark of them all– the all-time Major League Baseball home run record. Currently Hank Aaron, who has 755, is the one that fans admire. Bonds also trails Babe Ruth, who accumulated 715 dingers.

He will start this season at 708 and will need either one outstanding year or two extremely productive ones to break the record. Many experts believe with the injuries he’s sustained over the past few seasons it will be hard for him to reach the plateau set by Aaron. Another problem with Bonds setting a new lifetime home run mark is that people believe it will not be a true record because the slugger used steroids.

If he does become the most prolific long ball hitter to ever stand at home plate, there will be some contending that he cheated in order to do so. Critics will claim that during some of his most productive seasons he was on steroids and could not have hit that many home runs without “the juice.” It’s not that Bonds didn’t have any ability; he was and still is a gifted athlete. The question is because he whacked at least some of his homers while on steroids will people respect the record the same way they have for Ruth and Aaron. That is the big question.

Bonds will definitely be in the spotlight regardless of what he does this season. As long as he continues to play, the story of him chasing Ruth and then Aaron’s record will be a hot baseball topic this season and possibly next.

The fact that he plays half of his games in San Francisco’s hitter friendly AT&T Park certainly favors Bonds accomplishing this goal. But he also has things working against him. Most pitchers will try to throw around him, not giving Bonds very much at which to swing. As the season wears on, this will affect him both physically and mentally.

Bonds has complained in the past about how many walks he receives and how they take a toll on his legs. Another problem that may prevent Bonds from breaking the home run record is that he’s in the National League and is required to play the field. He has indicated he would like to stay with the San Francisco Giants and will refuse a trade to an American League (AL) team. If he were to go to an AL team, it could prolong his career because he would be able to be a designated hitter and would not be required to play the field.

He has said that San Francisco is his home and he will retire before he’s traded to another team. There is no question that this season he’ll be under scrutiny, and if he doesn’t produce the media will be all over him. Reporters may ask if he is over the hill, unable to go long without steroids, or if he can possibly stay healthy enough to finish his quest for the record.

The fact remains that Barry Bonds is going for the record and baseball fans will certainly be watching to see if he can do it. If he closes in on the mark, there will probably be sellout crowds in stadiums across the United States hoping to catch a home run ball from the remarkable Bonds. He will have many obstacles to overcome if he is going to accomplish this great feat.

One thing is certain it will be interesting to see if he has the stamina to hold on long enough to break the record. If he fails there will be people saying he should have retired at the top of his game and not have come back to try to break the record. Fans of home run fever will be tuning in the watch the saga of Barry Bonds.

The main objective for any baseball team is getting to the World Series at the end of the season. Two teams, who have beaten out all other teams in the league face off in a final few games to determine who is the best that year. It is an exciting time for be a player and a fan whose team has made it to the biggest set of games in the season. The world series which has only been around for fifty or more years, is the last five games of the season. These games played within a week are the most stressful games a player will ever have to play in. Not only are the fans of the team watching, the entire world is their to either cheer or boo everyone. If a player plays badly, his career could be over. The World Series is also the most competitive game of the season.

Getting to the World Series adds to the pressure of winning. But, this is not the end for some teams who lose. They can get there again and win. It really depends on how much a team wants victory and the kinds of conditions they are playing under. In the rain, baseball can be a very difficult game to play. Even in the heat, some players cannot perform as well as they would have if it were only a few degrees cooler. Injuries occur during the game, which are beyond anyone’s control. Players need to take care of themselves physically during the season to avoid injury. Once a player is injured, they will have to sit out. This can be frustrating to a player because they have made it to the World Series, but if they cannot play well, the team might not win the game.

There are many new players starting in spring training this year. Bringing new players is always exciting for the team, the league, and the fans. Fans who go to spring training enjoy seeing new talent and are impressed by someone who is new and has never played on the majors before. Many people who follow college baseball are excited to see a player that they liked in the major leagues. It is fun to watch the players practice and learn how to play baseball as a team.

New players have a challenge in front of them. Along with making new friends and moving to another part of the country, they have to learn how a new coach works the team. Some coaches are player favorites, some are not. Having a great coach in college does not mean the same in the majors.

During spring training, new players are expected to perform. They are assigned positions based on their experience and skill levels. There may be two or three people who can pitch, but one only one will be chosen and the others will be back ups. This goes for the rest of the positions. For older players, who are established, their positions might not change that much unless they have been injured or are getting older and cannot play certain positions as well anymore. This is the time for a new player to shine.

Taking over someone else’s position can be frightening at first, but once the player has expressed his worth to the team, the stress disappears.
New players should have fun and learn as much as they can during spring training. The months following spring training are tiresome. Traveling, playing games at different hours, sometimes two a day, can exhaust a player. But the joy of the game, the screaming fans, and the coaches, make the stress all worthwhile.

One of the funniest movies of all time, National Lampoon’s Vacation tells the story of a bungling middle-class man’s quest to provide his family with the ultimate family vacation. Complete with a series of laughable diversions along the way, and great casting that provides for a number of hilarious supporting characters, Vacation is a cult comedy classic. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo form the perfect married couple comedy duo with a banter that is simply magical, and the comic screenplay is well-written with sequence of never-ending laughter…

When Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) decides to take his Chicago family on a trip to Wally World, his wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), along with kids Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall) and Audrey (Dana Barron), try to convince him they should fly. But Clark is intent on taking the new “family truckster” (a brand new lemon he recently purchased) on a cross country drive so as to “see America” along the way. Clark wins the argument, and the family sets off on a nefarious and unforgettable excursion across the Fruited Plain. With a non-stop series of disasters - beginning in the driveway - the Griswold family struggles to deal with hubcap thieves, their Cousin Eddie, vibrating hotel beds, a dead aunt, a tortured dog, and Clark’s insistence on viewing the world’s largest pile of dirt.

When the Griswolds finally reach the end destination of Wally World, Clark and Rusty race to the entrance against the background music for “Chariots of Fire”. But to Clark’s dismay, Wally World’s notable moose character informs them that Wally World is closed for repairs. Flying off the handle, and intent on giving his family the best vacation ever, Clark purchases a handgun and barges into the park. Forcing a security guard (John Candy) to take his family on the various rides via gunpoint, Clark triggers a massive display of police authority on behalf of the local SWAT team…

Sporting hilarious supporting appearances by Randy Quaid, John Candy, and supermodel Christie Brinkley (a Ferrari-driving blonde whose infatuation with Clark threatens to breakup the Griswold marriage), National Lampoon’s Vacation is the quintessential comedy classic. If you’re one of the few people on earth who has managed to miss this one, then I definitely recommend going out and renting it right now. Rated R (by 1983 standards; minus some brief nudity, it would rate as PG today), Vacation is a film you can feel comfortable watching with your children. After all, I saw it when I was five, and I turned out all right! Because of its status as a cult comedy classic, as well as its never-ending laughs, National Lampoon’s Vacation is a definite must-see film. Don’t miss it…

Arriving on the scene in 1978, Animal House is the blockbuster frat house comedy that rewrote all the rules and created a generation of filmmakers hoping to replicate its comic genius. Original Saturday Night Live cast member John Belushi turned in a breakout film performance that made him a comedy rock star, propelling him to further fame with the release of Blues Brothers (1980). Tim Matheson also has his breakout role in the cult classic which features appearances by actors Mark Metcalf (”the Maestro” from Seinfeld), Donald Sutherland, and Kevin Bacon.

The film is set at fictional Faber College in the 1960s. Two incoming freshmen roommates, Larry Kroger (Tom Hulce) and Kent Dorfman (Stephen Furst), visit the various fraternities on campus in an effort to find a good group with which to socialize. But the two get more than they bargain for when the meet the guys of Delta House - a ragtag bunch of beer-swilling, womanizing, party animals. The group is the complete opposite of another campus fraternity, Omega House, headed by the snide, condescending preppies Greg Marmalard (James Daughton), Doug Neidermeyer (Mark Metcalf), and Chip Diller (Kevin Bacon). Favorites of Dean Wormer, the Omega House continually taunts Delta House and conspires with Dean Wormer to have the members of Delta expelled and their fraternity banned.

Leading the charge for Delta House is John “Bluto” Blutarsky (John Belushi), ladies man Eric “Otter” Stratton (Tim Matheson), and Donald “Boon” Schoenstein (Peter Riegert). Pledging Delta House, Larry and Kent are given the nicknames, Pinto and Flounder. Brought into the fold, they witness the true diversity of characters they are now brothers with. Otter seduces Dean Wormer’s wife, and Bluto spits egg on Greg Marmalard while Boon and his girlfriend work through their problems.

Things go well for the men of Delta House until Dean Wormer calls them into his office and places them on “Double Secret Probation”. With Omega and Wormer aligned against them, Delta House is kicked off campus and its members expelled. But the great men of Delta refuse to go down without a fight. With the Homecoming parade set to begin, they unleash a fury of revenge on Wormer and company…

At the conclusion of the film, we learn of the whereabouts of all the various characters. The timeless humor of this film makes it no wonder that it has ascended to cult classic status. An original and witty comedy wielding a trailblazing influence on teen/college comedies, Animal House has earned its place in the hallowed halls of American cinematic classics…

Winner of three Academy Awards including Best Picture, The Godfather was nominated for an additional eight Oscars. The brainchild of celebrated author Mario Puzo, the film is considered the crowning achievement of Francis Ford Coppola’s directing career. With intriguing depth, it provides audiences with a glimpse into the notorious underworld of warring New York crime families. As a result, The Godfather transformed a number of relatively unknown actors into Hollywood legends, among them being James Caan, Al Pacino, and Robert Duvall (all three of whom were nominated for Best Supporting Actor). In addition, Marlon Brando turns in, arguably, the most memorable performance of his career. Certainly among the top five films of all time, an excellent case could be made that The Godfather is the most perfect movie ever produced…

The film opens as “Don” Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) hosts his daughter’s wedding, where he actively entertains his friends and business associates. Vito’s favorite son Michael (Al Pacino) has come home from the war (World War II), and he’s determined to do something different with his life, and his ambitious plans don’t include joining the family business. An idealist at heart, the young Michael seduces his girlfriend Kay (Diane Keaton) with inspiring tales of the fine and upstanding things he will do with his life. Through the eyes of Michael, the audience learns of the family’s various business methods and the hierarchy of its system. Vito’s eldest son Sonny (James Caan) is the heir apparent to his father’s empire. Middle son Fredo (John Cazale) performs his part in the business, but few consider him a possible successor. Providing legal council to the family is Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall), a long-time friend of the family who Michael treats as a brother.

Life is good for the Corleone family until the day Vito is approached by an opportunistic newcomer named Virgil “The Turk” Sollozzo (Al Lettieri), an ambitious leader who aspires to become the number one distributor of illegal narcotics in New York. He asks for the Don’s blessing so he can expand his operations. But Vito sees a big difference between the traditional mafia activities of gambling and prostitution and the less-than-noble profession of selling drugs in schoolyards and family neighborhoods. The Don’s preference for placing family above all else creates a direct conflict with the changing landscape of his business world.

When competing crime families are more accommodating to Sollozzo’s business proposal, the enterprise sparks a deadly conflict between the crime families which quickly escalates into all-out war. Despite Vito’s attempts to put an end to the conflict in its early stages, his beloved firstborn, Sonny, becomes the target of gangland assassination. When an attempt is made on Vito’s life, Michael is drawn into the family business despite his reservations, and the overriding theme of “family first” comes to dominant his life in much the same way it’s dominated that of his father…

A dramatic story of family and change, of youthful idealism and the pragmatism of adulthood, The Godfather is the greatest mafia film ever produced, and perhaps as the best drama in all of cinema history. Al Pacino would soon follow up his masterful performance with The Godfather II, and countless other films in the decades since, forever cementing his place among the immortals Hollywood. As such, The Godfather is a film all movie lovers should see at least one. Widely heralded as one of the best written films in existence, it’s a definite “must-see” for any serious cinema aficionado…
